Who will be the very first Pinoy Idol?

From the critically acclaimed reality search from the United States, the Philippines have launched this year its own version of the show – The Pinoy Idol. The GMA Network has acquired the Idol franchise and the pilot show was aired last April 5, 2008. The audition took place on the major cities of the Philippines and thousands of aspirants came to try their luck within the competition. And just like the original reality search in America, the contest wouldn’t be more exciting without the jurors who will lie some of their opinions in a kinda insolent way. The judges were composed of Ogie Alcacid ( singer,song writer), Jolina Magdangal ( singer-actress) and Wyngard Tracy ( retired talent manager0 who happens to be the “Simon Cowell” among the three.

From thousands who have auditioned, the aspirants have been cut down to 24 when the show was launched and considered the semifinalist. The program aims to search for the best singer in the country which happens to be the “idol”. A series of live performances were done weekly and the nation will be the one to decide who will be crowned as the Pinoy Idol by doing a public voting. Of course, part of every competition is the prices at stake. This includes a brand new car, condominium unit, a recording contract, a television contract and one million pesos in cash.Finally, the much awaited finals night is heading very soon. This Sunday August 17, 2008 at the SMX of the SM Mall of Asia the top three contenders will finally give their very best in their performance.

So, who will be the very first Pinoy Idol?

Will it be the soulful singer from Pampanga Jayann Bautista, the rocker young dad and Bamboo look-a-like Ram Chavez or the sweet chick governor’s daughter Gretchen Espina? Even the three judges have different bets about who will bring home the bacon. For Wyngard its Jayann, Jolina’s choice would be Ram and unfortunately Ogie’s bet Daryl was voted out already. The end is quite near for the three but they are already considered as a star in the heart of their fans especially in their families.
