When the Gin Kings Reigned

,

Basketball is just another subject matter among the Filipinos. This is the most popular game in the entire country and even in the streets Pinoys can manage to play the game just with their lousy shorts and rubber slippers. Basketball is such a big deal not only for the guys but as well as the ladies actually, for the whole family.

Last night, the Philippine Basketball Association or the PBA have reached the end of their Fiesta Conference when the Gin Kings, Ginebra San Miguel won over Air 21 Express with a score of 97-84. The team has taken a sweet victory in game 7 although most of their players were injured and still hurting.

The Gin Kings have shown their never say die attitude all through out the game. Two of their ace players Mark Caguioa and Ronald Tubid still manage to contribute to the game despite of their condition. Tubid has shown a very positive aura through the entire game and even earned 22 baskets, the highest among the team. He returned to play in the series straight from injury even without practice. As their coach Jong Uchico narrates the story on how they deal with the crucial championship game. The Fiesta Conference Cup last might have given them their 9th PBA title.

Being the crowd favorite, the whole Araneta Coliseum was shaking with the noise coming from the fans of the Ginebra team which is collectively known as the “barangay” due to the massive number of people cheering for them. This is just an evidence how Filipinos appreciate this particular kind of sport. After winning the title, the next question is who will grab the Most Valuable Player trophy for this season.
