Videoke King and Queen

You can’t change the fact that the Filipinos really love to sing. In fact, in almost any celebration whether it is a birthday party, wedding, christening or fiestas. Thank you to the videoke, and every Filipinos passion for singing made it possible. From the time the music starts to play, the volume of the speaker is on up to the highest level and they will start to sing just like making the best performances of their lives.




The videoke has become the most popular means of entertainment for many Filipinos; it has captured their strong passion for singing plus the convenience it brings for the lyrics are just viewed on the screen. There are corresponding moving cursors and changing text colors so that the user can easily follow the song. They wouldn’t have a hard time memorizing every piece. It is also a good way of bonding with the family. Filipinos are known for keeping such close family ties. With videoke, every family member is entitled to have a great time.



Because of the continued popularity of videoke in the Philippines, videoke bars start to merge allover the metro. Each has distinct offers just to catch customers’ attention. They came from a wide variety, from a typical videoke bars in Manila to the more sophisticated type which they called the KTV bars mostly in the Quezon City area. More and more people become engage in this type of leisure.




Aside from that according to Almond Aguila, a lecture at the University of the Philippines Diliman, the videoke singing has been part of the culture of the Filipinos. It has become a way of the Filipinos to communicate without being confrontational. She states that the Filipinos by nature are uncomfortable with directness. They always worried on what other people may say. But with singing they unintentionally bring up the things that they need to say. Going out with friends at videoke bars somehow lessen the awkwardness between certain individuals. In short, just like the other type of leisure activity, it also manages the improvement of the social relation between each people.
