Once again the Filipino made history. After representing our country last August 8 at the 32nd Montreal World Film Festival in Canada, the movie “Selda” with an international title The Inmate is again making each of the Filipinos proud by being the first Filipino film to compete at the 49th Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece. This will happen at the 14th of November up to the 23rd this year.
From the direction of Paolo Villaluna and Ellen Ramos, the said film is competing for the Golden Alexander award, which is given each year by a seven-member international jury accompanied by a 37,000 Euro cash prize, the Special Jury Award-Silver Alexander (accompanied by 22,000 Euro cash prize), as well as awards for Best Direction, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Artistic Achievement.

According to the festival director Despina Mouzaki, the programming of the event had been influenced by last year’s success of The Red Awn by Chinese director Shangjun Cai which won the top prize Golden Alexander award.
