Divi: The Shopping Haven

Who says everything is expensive now a day? Here in Manila, there is only one place that comes to the mind of every Filipino when they hear the word shopping. It’s none other than Divisoria. The place is known for bargains of everything, whether clothes, shoes, bags, school and office supplies, toys, home décor, kitchenware and even foods. During the early times, the Chinese merchants used to nest at this particular place to sell their goods because they were barred from doing their businesses in Intramuros. By that time, Divisoria is known for its narrow and filthy streets as well as for marketing second hand goods. However, as time passes, the place has been popular due to its cheapest prices of goods and more shopper friendly area.

Divisoria’s main street is Juan Luna St. Better enjoy the crowd of the big street that is always buzzing with a lot of activities everyday even until night time. The market offers wide variety of goods in a low cost because you can either buy it by whole sale or by retail. But I can say to try buy in bulk for it is much cheaper. In this way, you can have a discount on your selected items just don’t forget to ask for it to the friendly vendors.

But if you cannot take the severe heat along the streets, you can just manage to shop at malls located nearby. There is the famous Divisoria mall, 168 Mall and the Tutuban Mall which lies at the very heart of DIvisoria. In these malls, you can also enjoy a low cost shopping especially for clothe, shoes and bags. Mostly, the women are the one who really can’t live without treating their selves for a shop. So, this place is very much ideal for them.

Before, shopping at Divisoria is only meant for the poor or low class people in the society. However, today, even the person that belongs to the higher society found Divisoria a perfect place to hop in for their shopping. Even the former first lady, Imelda Marcos, a known socialite cares to shop at Divisoria. Due to its popularity among the people, Divisoria is later called “Divi” which males it more appealing to the shoppers.
