It was a big hit when the show first came here in the Philippines. Last year, the Fremantle Media have given GMA channel 7 the credit to do the Pinoy version of the show celebrity duets. And this coming Saturday, August 23, the second season of the much awaited show will be starting again.
The reason why the show grabbed the attention of the Filipino audiences is because of the celebrity contenders that will participate in the said contest. The people were amaze when they see these celebrities singing. They didn’t expect that somehow they can show case their talent in singing despite of their usual professions in life.
Last year in the first season, who would have though that Tessa Prieto Valdes, country’s known socialite and fashion icon grabbed the title as the first celebrity duet grand champion. Among her opponents were Dr. Hayden Kho (cosmetic surgeon and ramp model) and Jessica Rodriguez (actress and entrepreneur). The said champion will still be part of the show as one of the judges along with theater director Freddie Santos and musical arranger and composer Danny Tan.
So, who are the contenders for this season? The group is composed of a chef, a fashion designer, comedian, two former beauty queens, a public official, a soccer player and a beauty expert. Haven’t guessed yet?
They are QTV 11’s Ka-toque’s chef JL Cang, fashion designer JC Buendia, the comedian turned politician Joey Marquez along with her sister former Ms. International/ Supermodel Melanie Marquez, former Bb. Pilipinas-World Carlene Aguilar, MMDA chairman Bayani Fernando, Fil-British professional soccer player Phil Younghusband and lastly beauty and wellness expert Cory Quirino.
Again who among these eight contenders will be crowned as the next Celebrity Duets champion? Take your bet…
